By confirming a booking with Hunak Journeys, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Booking Terms & Conditions.

These Terms apply to group journeys, private journeys, and any other travel arrangements sold or organised by Hunak Journeys, unless specific written terms are agreed for a particular journey.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any statutory rights that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law.

2. Scope of Services

Hunak Journeys organises small-group and private journeys in culturally significant destinations, including remote or semi-remote environments outside the European Union.

Hunak Journeys operates through a network of trusted local partners, guides, drivers, hosts, accommodation providers, activity providers, and local operators.

Our journeys may involve:

  • remote or isolated environments;

  • limited infrastructure;

  • physical activity;

  • hiking, walking, riding, camping, or off-road travel;

  • cultural encounters and local community settings;

  • changing weather conditions;

  • operational flexibility;

  • limited access to medical facilities;

  • and itinerary adjustments due to safety, logistics, or local conditions.

Travellers acknowledge and accept the nature of these experiences when booking with Hunak Journeys.

3. Package Travel and Role of Hunak Journeys

Some journeys sold by Hunak Journeys may constitute package travel or similar travel arrangements under applicable European Union and Estonian travel laws.

Where a journey qualifies as a package travel arrangement, Hunak Journeys will act in accordance with applicable legal obligations, including those relating to pre-contractual information, performance of travel services, assistance to travellers, and applicable insolvency protection requirements.

The specific services included in each journey will be described in the relevant destination page, journey page, proposal, booking communication, or pre-departure materials.

Travellers remain responsible for carefully reviewing what is included and excluded before confirming a booking.

4. Essential Journey Information

Before confirming a booking, travellers are responsible for reviewing all relevant information provided by Hunak Journeys, including:

  • destination pages;

  • departure information;

  • journey duration;

  • physical difficulty levels;

  • safety notices;

  • pricing;

  • included and excluded services;

  • minimum group requirements;

  • accommodation and comfort level;

  • practical travel information;

  • visa, passport, vaccination, or entry requirements;

  • and any pre-departure documentation or welcome materials provided by Hunak Journeys.

Detailed itineraries, operational briefings, packing lists, security information, and additional journey information may be communicated after booking confirmation and deposit payment.

By confirming a booking, travellers acknowledge having reviewed and accepted the information made available by Hunak Journeys.

5. Booking Confirmation and Deposit

A booking is considered confirmed once:

  • Hunak Journeys accepts the booking request through written communication; and

  • the required deposit or full payment has been received.

A deposit starting from EUR 500 per traveller is generally required to confirm a booking. Deposit amounts may vary depending on:

  • destination;

  • itinerary;

  • departure date;

  • operational requirements;

  • local partner commitments;

  • or journey type.

For bookings made within sixty (60) days before departure, full payment may be required at the time of confirmation.

Hunak Journeys reserves the right to decline a booking request at its discretion, including where we reasonably believe that the journey is unsuitable for the traveller, operationally unavailable, or no longer commercially or logistically viable.

6. Payment Schedule

Unless otherwise specified in writing:

  • the remaining balance must be paid no later than sixty (60) days before departure;

  • failure to complete payment within the required timeframe may result in cancellation of the booking.

Any bank charges, transfer fees, card charges, or currency conversion costs are the responsibility of the traveller, unless otherwise stated in writing.

Hunak Journeys may issue invoices, payment instructions, or payment links depending on the payment method available at the time of booking.

7. Pricing and Promotional Offers

Prices for Hunak Journeys may vary over time due to:

  • seasonal offers;

  • promotional campaigns;

  • last-minute offers;

  • operational considerations;

  • group size adjustments;

  • exchange rate fluctuations;

  • supplier or local partner cost changes;

  • or other commercial factors.

Travellers acknowledge that different participants on the same departure may have booked under different pricing conditions or promotional offers.

Such price differences do not entitle travellers to:

  • refunds;

  • credits;

  • price adjustments;

  • compensation;

  • or equalisation with another traveller’s price.

All prices confirmed at the time of booking are considered final and accepted by the traveller, unless otherwise stated in writing.

8. Cancellation by the Traveller

All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing to:

info@hunakjourneys.com

Cancellation becomes effective once confirmed in writing by Hunak Journeys.

Unless specific cancellation conditions are stated for a particular journey, cancellation fees apply as follows:

  • cancellation request made sixty (60) days or more before departure: the deposit is retained;

  • cancellation request made thirty (30) to fifty-nine (59) days before departure: 50% of the total journey price is retained;

  • cancellation request made fifteen (15) to twenty-nine (29) days before departure: 70% of the total journey price is retained;

  • cancellation request made fourteen (14) days or fewer before departure: 100% of the total journey price is retained.

Deposits are generally non-refundable because Hunak Journeys may make advance commitments with local partners, accommodation providers, guides, transport providers, or other suppliers.

However, in exceptional circumstances and at the sole discretion of Hunak Journeys, partial refunds, travel credits, or transfers to future departures may be considered.

Travellers are strongly encouraged to purchase comprehensive travel insurance including cancellation coverage.

No refunds will be issued for:

  • unused services;

  • voluntary withdrawal from the journey;

  • late arrival;

  • early departure;

  • failure to participate in portions of the itinerary;

  • or removal from a journey due to misconduct or safety concerns.

This section does not affect any mandatory statutory rights that may apply under relevant package travel or consumer protection laws.

9. Cancellation or Changes by Hunak Journeys

Hunak Journeys reserves the right to modify, postpone, or cancel a journey where reasonably necessary due to:

  • safety concerns;

  • environmental conditions;

  • weather conditions;

  • political developments;

  • local authority restrictions;

  • operational constraints;

  • force majeure events;

  • insufficient participant numbers;

  • transport disruption;

  • local partner or supplier failure;

  • or other circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

If a journey cannot operate as planned, Hunak Journeys may, depending on the circumstances and applicable legal obligations:

  • propose an alternative departure;

  • offer an alternative itinerary;

  • transfer the booking to another journey;

  • issue travel credit;

  • or provide a refund of recoverable amounts or any refund required by applicable law.

Where Hunak Journeys cancels a package travel arrangement before departure, any refund or alternative arrangement will be handled in accordance with applicable law and the specific circumstances of the cancellation.

Hunak Journeys reserves the right to make reasonable itinerary modifications necessary for:

  • safety;

  • weather;

  • environmental protection;

  • local conditions;

  • logistical realities;

  • animal welfare;

  • cultural sensitivity;

  • or operational quality.

Such modifications may include:

  • route changes;

  • sequence adjustments;

  • accommodation substitutions;

  • transportation modifications;

  • guide or local team substitutions;

  • activity alterations;

  • or timing changes,

provided that the overall nature and spirit of the journey are preserved where reasonably possible.

10. Minimum Participant Requirements

Certain departures require a minimum number of participants to operate under standard pricing conditions.

Minimum participant requirements vary depending on the itinerary, destination, cost structure, and operational model of the journey.

If minimum participant numbers are not reached, Hunak Journeys may:

  • offer travellers the possibility to maintain the departure through an adjusted price;

  • propose alternative dates;

  • transfer the booking to another departure;

  • or cancel the departure with a refund of monies paid, in accordance with applicable law and the specific booking conditions.

For some destinations, Hunak Journeys may operate departures below the standard minimum group size if travellers agree to a small-group supplement or adjusted price.

Any such supplement will be communicated before final confirmation of the departure.

11. Private Journeys – Special Conditions

Private journeys are custom-designed based on direct consultation between Hunak Journeys and the traveller or group organiser.

Once a proposed itinerary, quotation, and operational plan are accepted through payment of the deposit, the booking is considered confirmed.

Prices for private journeys are based on:

  • agreed participant numbers;

  • operational conditions;

  • accommodation structures;

  • transportation requirements;

  • local logistics;

  • activity selection;

  • guide and support team requirements;

  • and destination-specific costs.

Any modification requested after confirmation may:

  • require repricing;

  • incur additional operational costs;

  • affect availability;

  • require supplier or local partner approval;

  • or become impossible to accommodate.

Hunak Journeys reserves the right to refuse modifications that may compromise:

  • safety;

  • operational feasibility;

  • local partner commitments;

  • animal welfare;

  • environmental responsibility;

  • cultural sensitivity;

  • or journey quality.

Certain private journeys may be subject to specific cancellation conditions depending on the nature of the itinerary and operational commitments involved. Where different cancellation conditions apply, these will be communicated in writing before booking confirmation.

12. Traveller Fitness and Medical Responsibility

Travellers are responsible for ensuring that they are physically and medically fit to participate in the booked journey.

Hunak Journeys operates in environments where:

  • medical infrastructure may be limited;

  • off-road travel;

  • exposure to heat, cold, wind, altitude, or desert conditions;

  • camping or sleeping outdoors;

  • limited sanitary facilities;

  • horse riding or horsemanship activities;

  • interaction with animals;

  • and long travel days.

Travellers are responsible for disclosing any relevant medical condition, disability, allergy, dietary requirement, medication need, fitness limitation, pregnancy, psychological condition, or other health concern that may affect:

  • their participation;

  • their safety;

  • the safety of others;

  • the ability of local teams to support them;

  • or the experience of the group.

Hunak Journeys reserves the right to decline a booking, request additional information, request medical clearance, or remove a participant from a journey where it reasonably considers that participation may pose a risk to:

  • the traveller;

  • other participants;

  • guides;

  • local communities;

  • animals;

  • or the operation itself.

Failure to disclose relevant health or fitness information may result in refusal of participation or removal from the journey without refund.

13. Participation of Minors

Travellers under the age of eighteen (18) may only participate in a Hunak Journey if accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Unless otherwise specified for a particular itinerary, the minimum participation age is fifteen (15) years old.

  • physical demands;

  • remoteness;

  • operational conditions;

  • safety requirements;

  • accommodation structure;

  • activity type;

  • and overall expedition requirements.

Parents or legal guardians remain fully responsible for minors participating in a journey.

Travellers remain personally responsible for ensuring their insurance coverage is appropriate for the nature of the journey booked, the destination, and the activities involved.

Hunak Journeys may request proof of insurance before departure. Failure to provide adequate proof of insurance may result in refusal of participation without refund.

15. Passport, Visa, Vaccination and Entry Requirements

Travellers are responsible for ensuring that they hold valid passports, visas, vaccinations, travel documents, entry permits, and any other documents required for the destination.

Hunak Journeys may provide general information regarding entry requirements, visas, health precautions, or local regulations, but such information does not replace official advice from embassies, consulates, government authorities, medical professionals, or relevant travel health bodies.

Hunak Journeys is not responsible for any loss, cancellation, denied boarding, denied entry, delay, or additional cost resulting from a traveller’s failure to obtain or maintain the required documents or health requirements.

16. Authority of Guides and Local Teams

Hunak Journeys operates through carefully selected local partners, guides, drivers, hosts, and expedition teams who retain operational authority during journeys.

Decisions taken by guides, expedition leaders, local partners, or authorised Hunak Journeys representatives in relation to:

  • safety;

  • traveller conduct;

  • operational management;

  • environmental conditions;

  • animal welfare;

  • local customs;

  • transport;

  • route changes;

  • activity adjustments;

  • violates local laws;

  • disrespects local communities;

  • compromises safety;

  • harms animals or disregards animal welfare instructions;

  • damages the environment;

  • or damages the integrity of the experience.

No refund will be issued where a traveller is removed from a journey due to misconduct, safety concerns, or refusal to follow reasonable instructions.

If the issue cannot be resolved during the journey, the traveller should submit a written complaint to:
