A Different Way to Experience Sicily

This small-group journey through northern Sicily, combines the landscapes of the Tyrrhenian coast with volcanic environments, local food traditions and the everyday character of the island.

Based for seven nights in the countryside near Patti, we will explore beaches and nature reserves, visit Tindari and Palermo, walk through the landscapes of Mount Etna, travel by boat along the coast and spend a full day on the island of Vulcano.

The programme balances active days of exploration with time by the sea, at the swimming pool and around our countryside residence.

Day 2 -Marinello and Tindari

Walk, swim and relax along the coastline of the Laghetti di Marinello Nature Reserve before visiting the historic promontory of Tindari.

Day 3 - The coast by boat

Discover rocky coves, sea caves and beaches that are difficult to reach from land, with time to swim and snorkel.

Day 7 - Vulcano and the Aeolian Islands

Travel by fast ferry to Vulcano for a guided island experience, coastal views and a tasting of Malvasia wine and local products.

Day 4- Sicilian food and family traditions

Join a traditional pasta-making class and share a generous Sicilian lunch in the countryside home of the host’s family.

Day 6 - Palermo

Explore the historic centre, neighbourhoods and markets of the Sicilian capital with a local guide and time to discover its street-food culture.

Entrance fees during the Tindari and Palermo visits are expected to total approximately €20 -35 per person, depending on the sites open and visited.

A deposit of €500 per person is required to reserve a place. The remaining balance is due 20 days before departure. Bookings made within 15 days of departure require full payment. Full contractual terms, cancellation conditions and package-travel information will be provided before booking.

Rhythm of the Journey & Physical Level
This journey through Northern Sicily is a different experience than Hunak outdoor journeys. While the rhythm remains active, with different activities, the journey offers the possibility to relax, unwind and absorb the calmness and beauty of the place. The hike on Mount Etna is easy and accessible to everyone. Hunak's host will always adapt the rhythm of each activity to the necessities of the whole group.

Minimum Group Size
For this journey, the minimum group size is 6 travellers. Departure is confirmed 20 days before departure. if the minimus size is not reached, any payment received from clients will be fully reimbursed. Travellers are advised to purchase refundable flights or wait for written departure confirmation before purchasing non-refundable travel arrangements.

Group Size
This journey is intentionally limited to eight guests.

Travellers may reserve individually, as a couple, as a family or with friends. The departure will be confirmed once six places have been reserved.

Your Host

The journey is hosted by Claudio, a native Sicilian and the founder of Hunak Journeys.

Born and raised in the area, Claudio accompanies the group throughout the week and introduces guests to the landscapes, places and traditions that shaped his own relationship with Sicily.

He speaks English, Italian, French and Spanish. The main group language will be selected according to the composition of the departure, while individual support remains available in all four languages.
